Joshua Ryuju Thorson

Known artistically on social media as @joshuaryuju, I am a multidisciplinary creative and founder of Ryuju Collective, an evolving project that blends art, fashion, and storytelling.

Born and raised in the small rural town of Kempton, Illinois, his artistic journey was deeply shaped by my early exposure to Japanese culture and aesthetics, passed down through my mother’s side of the family.

My mother and grandfather remain two of my greatest inspirations, with their work and creative spirit continuing to influence my visual language and approach to design.

Both of their legacies live through my dedication to meaningful, intentional expression through my design and artistry.

Now based in Denver, Colorado, I've been steadily building Ryuju Collective since 2018, carving out a space that celebrates cultural fusion, emotional depth, and the quiet power of resilience.
